The Beaty Biodiversity Museum is committed to providing a healthy and safe environment. Our safety plan details the COVID-19 measures and controls required for the museum's common areas. The plan is in alignment with BC’s Restart Plan and UBC COVID-19 Campus Rules. Please note that non-medical masks are now required for all indoor public areas. Careful social contact and daily self-assessment are required.
We are open Tuesdays to Sundays, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm with activities for everyone! Please check our calendar before you visit. 
  • Raising Big Blue screening: 10:30 am | 1:30 pm | 4:00 pm (daily)
  • Daily Museum Tour: 11:30 am (weekends only) | 3:00 pm (weekdays and weekends)
  • Hands-on Activities: 10:30 am | 3:30 pm (daily)
  • Nocturnal: Every third Thursday of the month | 5:00 pm to 8:30 pm with admission by donation

On the third Thursday of every month, the museum will stay open until 8:30 pm. Admission by donation starting at 5:00 pm. All ages welcome! Check out our events calendar to see what’s coming up next. Upcoming dates:

Explore the museum’s six collections at your own pace and with your own focus. Our collections include fungi, moss, plants, marine invertebrates, mammals, birds, reptiles, fishes, insects, and more! Teachers and other group leaders are welcome to design and lead their own lessons or to take advantage of the museum’s ongoing and featured activities. Learn about the current exhibitions on display for your visit, and find answers to some common accessibility questions.
We encourage preparing an activity or scavenger hunt for your self-led visit as a way to frame your trip to the museum. Check out the list of our Educator Resources that can support your visit.

Discounts on our regular museum admission are available for groups of 15 or more. Self-led visits are available throughout the year on any day the museum is open. Submit a Booking Request!

Drop in between 10:30 am – 1:00 pm on the first SATURDAY of the month to enjoy special activities for families with children 5-12 years, plus all of our regular museum programming, Raising Big Blue movie, museum tours, and more!

Thanks to the generous support of Campus and Community Planning, UBC campus families can take part for free. Other families are welcome to join us, museum admission rates apply. Visit the webpage for more details, themes and dates.
Researchers Revealed introduces scientists from the Biodiversity Research Centre and the work that they are doing. From oceans to deserts to far-off jungles, these researchers are roaming the globe and uncovering the answers to questions they have about our world.
