The Great CliffPerhaps you have heard about “The Great Cliff.” Over the next couple of months it is excepted that 3.85 million students will graduate from high school in the United States. This is believed to be the highest number of graduates in U.S. history. However, in 2026, the number will drop and continue to drop at least until 2041. These projections are based on birth rates which fell in 2007 and have continued to drop to a low of 3.6 million a year. This has major implications for the United States. However, this is a great opportunity for Free Will Baptists. (For more, see Dr. Moody's column in ONE Magazine)
Although 38 states are in decline, 12 states will see an increase. Many of these states are where Free Will Baptists are strongest. It also appears that Free Will Baptist have more children than the typical American. Results of the Cooperative Election Survey indicated that 28% of Free Will Baptists are the parent or guardian of a child under 18. Our nation needs our children, which is an opportunity for Free Will Baptists.

It's Camp SeasonPreliminary reports from Free Will Baptist camps indicate they run from 92 to 243 students each summer. In three camps alone, we see an average of 42 decisions a year, and seven young men who answer the call to preach. (Listen to Dylan Persinger on the impact of camp). Camps create the unique opportunity for kids to unplug and have wholesome fun while focusing on Bible reading, teaching, and preaching. They often make new friends and have the opportunity to be discipled by caring adults, while being challenged to examine their relationship to God and answer His call upon their lives.
Let’s support camps by praying for each kid daily who attends camp from your church as well as the camp workers, activities and services. Could you sponsor a kid or kids to go to camp? Could you sponsor a kid in your community to go to camp? Maybe you could even volunteer or give financial support to a camp. Free Will Baptists have a unique opportunity during this season in history. Let’s seize it.
