New Educational Technology Specialist Position
As a result of House Bill 1450, the State is once again awarding funds to all ESDs to provide regional technical support for ongoing educator training, school district cost-benefit analysis, long-range planning, network planning, distance learning access support, and other technical support. This is funding that the ESD has not received since 2013. To provide these services, there is a need to hire an Education Technology Specialist. This newly revised position (funded by the state) will work 200 days per year to provide the technology support outlined and to work in concert with ESDs, AESD, and OSPI to design and deliver LMS professional development to educators across our region.

Russ Whiteaker Early Learning Scholarship
Dr. Judy Reault, a former ESD 123 Assistant Superintendent of Teaching & Learning, and current board member of the Dream Builder’s Educational Foundation, joined the ESD May board meeting. Dr. Reault announced that ECEAP early learning staff members would be the recipients of the Russ Whiteaker Early Learning Scholarship, totaling $1,500. Russ Whiteaker, a former ESD 123 Executive Director of Finance, was one of the first people to recognize the need and the importance of lobbying for early learning at the ESD, and that ESD 123 should be an early learning leader in our region. Following Russ’ passing, contributions were collected to honor his name and his role at ESD 123, to be used in support of early learning educators within the organization. Erin Tomlinson, ECEAP Administrator, expressed her gratitude to the Dream Builder’s Educational Foundation for their generous support.
