Estimated Taxes Session Thursday, December 1, 10–11 a.m., virtual
Join us for a review of Graduate Student Estimated Tax responsibilities. Representatives from UChicagoGRAD will be available in this 45-minute session to provide basic information about Estimated Taxes for graduate students and to answer tax-related questions. Topics will include: What are Estimated Taxes? Do I have a responsibility to make Federal or Illinois Estimated Tax payments? How do I complete the required paperwork? What deadlines should I keep in mind for 2023 and beyond?

A native of Donetsk, Ukraine, Stanislav Aseyev began his writing career as a novelist, poet, and playwright. In 2015, he began secretly publishing reports on events in Donbas and in his hometown, which had become the capital of the separatist Donetsk People’s Republic. When his identity was discovered, he was arrested and detained in an unacknowledged Russian prison for over two and a half years. Aseyev will make two public appearances on campus (linked above) in conversation with William Nickell. Each meeting will include readings from his books.

ICPSR Summer Program Scholarships
Applications Open December 5, 2022 until February 1, 2023
The ICPSR Summer Program provides rigorous, hands-on training in statistical techniques, research methodologies, and data analysis. More than $150,000 in student scholarships are offered every year with a goal of removing financial barriers to participation and increasing access to statistical methods training for students of all different backgrounds. The University of Chicago is a member of the Inter-University Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR) and students are encouraged to apply.

English Language Institute (ELI) Offerings
Do you want to build English proficiency and communication skills, network and meet new people? Check out the ELI’s weekly programs, including meeting virtually with a writing tutor (Sunday & Thursday evenings, 6–10 p.m., virtual). Receive feedback on your writing from a tutor trained by the Writing Program and the English Language Institute. Priority is given to College Core students, but grad students can get on the Drop-In List.
