Bridgeport City News | Bill Finch, Mayor
June 27, 2014

Saturday is the big day. After nearly two decades, Bridgeport residents will again have access to Pleasure Beach. We’re hoping for a nice turnout and hoping to see you there.
The water taxis will begin running for the public at 10 a.m., Saturday June 28, 2014, from the dock at Central Avenue near Seaview Avenue and will close at 6:00 p.m.
“This will be such an important day. I’ve heard so many stories from people about their memories as kids going to Pleasure Beach. Now, those people can bring their own kids there to create new memories. I know I will,” said Mayor Bill Finch.
The peninsula will be accessible seven days a week via free water taxi, which will pick beach goers up at the fishing pier located on Seaview Avenue near its intersection with Central Avenue.

"US mayors to use nature to fight climate change"
Associated Press

Bridgeport, Conn. Mayor Bill Finch, who also serves as co-chair of the U.S. Conference of Mayors Climate Protection Task Force, addressed thousands of elected officials and business leaders from across the country on the Park City’s efforts to tackle climate change.
“Our sustainability plan is called BGreen2020. And, it’s a cooperative effort between our Regional Chamber of Commerce and the city. It’s resulted in building of the largest fuel cell in North America, which is the second biggest in the world. It’s also resulted in the creation of an Eco-Technology Park that houses many new businesses, hundreds of jobs, and a payroll addition to our economy of more than $10 million."
Mayor Finch spoke to the Associated Press about the efforts of mayors across the country to fight climate change.

"Bass Pro site work begins"
CT Post

Bridgeport’s Steel Point redevelopment — Steelpointe Harbor — continues moving closer to launch. This week, Connecticut Post wrote about the development taking another step forward as work is underway on the site of the development's first anchor tennant — Bass Pro Shops.
“Construction at the Bass Pro site serves as proof that we’re investing in the future,” said Mayor Bill Finch. “With Steelpointe Harbor, which is the largest economic development project in the Bridgeport since the industrial revolution, we’re improving our city through developing the waterfront. And, once complete, this development will create thousands of jobs, generate millions of dollars in tax revenue, and help ensure our city is a place where our kids and grandkids want to live, work, and raise a family.”

U-Haul reusing an old factory” CT Post
On April 22, 2014, Mayor Bill Finch led a tour of the Eco-Technology Park, a development in the city’s west side that is attracting several green job creators and will serve as the future home to a new U-Haul facility.
Another highly-visible factory building in the city is getting a makeover.
U-Haul has purchased the former Bridgeport Metal Goods factory at 365 Cherry St. and plans to transform it into a plant for truck and trailer rentals, self-storage and more.
“U-Haul’s decision to further invest in Bridgeport is great news,” said Mayor Bill Finch. “They’re creating jobs and growing our economy. They’re revitalizing a building that has been an eyesore for our community. And, they’re investing in our future, playing a role in making Bridgeport a place where our kids and grandkids will choose to live, work, and raise their families.”
