Join us for a film screening of Oscars 2025 Best International Feature Film, I’m Still Here. Based on the book, Ainda Estou Aqui, by Marcelo Rubens Paiva, and directed by Walter Salles, the film is based on the true story of the Paiva family as they navigated life during military rule in Brazil. After the film screening, Baylor professors Moisés Park, Marilia Corrêa, João Chaves, Gustavo Costa, and Drew University doctoral student Fellipe Dos Anjos will facilitate a short conversation and Q&A with the audience about the film. The Baylor Jazz Ensemble program will highlight modern jazz composers, including the music of Christine Jensen, one of the premier big band voices of our time. Performing Jensen’s work is especially meaningful, as her artistry represents the important and growing contributions of women in jazz composition — a field historically dominated by men. Join us as we celebrate the evolution of jazz, from its rich history to its vibrant present. Students receive recital credit.
