August 1 Pray for Ray Farag, class of 1971, as he celebrates his birthday. Ray serves on the Board of Trustees for Sterling College.
2 Lift up your eyes on high, and see who has created these things, who brings out their host by number; He calls them all by name, by the greatness of His might and the strength of His power; not one is missing. ~ Isaiah 40:26 ~ Pray that our eyes would be fixed on Jesus and that our trust would only be in Him.
3 The staff are busy placing students in rooms and matching roommates together. Pray over the roommate and dorm assignments for the upcoming year.
4 Pray for all the Sterling College employees as they make final preparations for students to arrive.
5 Pray for traveling mercies for all college students - Sterling and beyond - as they leave home for the school year.
6 Our Resident Assistants are preparing for the new year. Intercede for them today, that they would be convicted to love, support, and serve those in their halls all year long.
7 New students arrive on campus today. Pray for a smooth transition for each student. Pray for all parents/guardians who are sending off a child to college this year. Ask God to bring comfort and a sense of peace to all members of the family.
8 Pray for all fall student-athletes, that they would have a strong start to their season and that they would be welcoming to their new teammates.
9 Pray for the community of Sterling as they adjust to having plenty of new faces in town. May the presence of the college enhance the lives in the community as much as the community enhances the college.
10 Pray for new student orientation. Pray for lifelong friendships to be created.
11 Pray for our Resident Directors as they build relationships and be the hands and feet of Jesus on campus.
12 God, who made the world and everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands. Nor is He worshiped with men's hands, as though He needed anything, since He gives to all life, breath, and all things. And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings, so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us. ~ Acts 17:24-27 ~ The Lord is near to us, pray that we will seek after Him and put our hope in Him.
13 Pray for SC alumni who are school teachers/coaches/administrators as they prepare for their new school year. Pray they can be lights in their classrooms, their courts/fields, and their schools.
14 All other new students and returning students move in today and all our student body is officially here. Pray for good relationships to form and for each student to get settled and connected and that God would create community within our whole campus.
15 Lift up the men who live in our dorms - Campbell Hall, Douglas Men's Residence, and Kilbourn Hall.
16 Lift up the women who live in our dorms - Evans Hall, Douglas men's Residence, and McCreery Hall.
17 Pray for President Scott Rich, that he will have wisdom and good discernment as he leads this year.
18 Pray for Matt Jaeger, class of 2000, as he celebrates his birthday. Matt serves on the Board of Trustees for Sterling College.
19 Today, fall classes begin. Pray for our students, faculty, and staff. Pray for the Keynote Convocation today as the campus is set on solid ground for the year.
20 Pray for all our coaches and their staff. Pray that they may lead our student-athletes in a godly manner.
21 Pray for all of those taking courses through Sterling College Online Learning this fall.
22 Pray for those that will struggle with homesickness this semester - ask that God would comfort them and bring people into their lives to be their home away from home.
23 Pray for our local churches this Sunday as they open their doors to the Sterling College students that are back on campus. Pray for the pastors and members of the churches as they continue the important work of developing our students spiritually.
24 Pray the Lord would bring the right people to fill the open positions on campus.
25 Pray for faculty, staff, students, and alumni of Sterling College who are going through hardships right now. May God draw near to them, and they draw near to Him.
26 Pray for Dr. Barry York, -- President and Professor of Pastoral Theology & Homiletics at Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania as he speaks to the campus in chapel today.
27 Pray that our students would realize our faith can become their own personal faith in Jesus. May we encourage them, walk alongside them, and help them grow as disciples of Christ.
28 Pray that we continue to be an institution that points others to the gospel. May we continue shaping minds and hearts and mobilizing students in their Christian faith.
29 If we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. ~ 1 John 1:7 ~ Pray that we, as an institution, walk will in the Light.
30 The students will each spend a significant amount of time in the cafeteria this year. Pray for the conversations they'll have and the relationships they'll build during meals, that both would be glorifying to God.
31 Pray for all SC alumni serving internationally on the mission field.
