Concord's Independent Bookstore Since 1898
Happy New Year!
Not sure if you can make out the title of the book that Good Ol' Charlie Brown is reading to avoid the dance, but it's Tolstoy's War and Peace. Good job, Charlie Brown!  There's more than one way to celebrate!
Gibson's will be closing early today, New Year's Eve, at 5 PM, and we will be open for short hours tomorrow, New Year's Day, from noon to 5 PM. On Friday and Saturday, we'll be open 9-7, and on Sunday we'll be here from 11-6. Then on Monday, January 5, we'll be closed for inventory. Wish us luck!
On Tuesday, January 6, we'll begin new winter hours officially. We'll be open from 9 AM to 7 PM Monday-Saturday, and 11-6 on Sunday. ... Of course, on event nights, we'll be open later. Check our website or call if you want to be sure.
Upcoming events

We begin 2015 with a great local story--the story of Mary Baker Eddy--as written by local historian Peter Wallner, who is also the author of our bestselling Franklin Pierce biographies. Peter's Faith on Trial focuses on the sensational trial of 1907, which began as a fight over wealth but turned into a battle over the nature and legal status of religious belief in America, and a story that brought both Concord and Christian Science into the national eye. Peter will be here to discuss and sign the book on Thursday, January 8, at 7 PM.

Gibson's Book Club reads The Good Soldier, by Ford Madox Ford
In a meeting originally scheduled for January 5, we'll be meeting on the 12th to discuss this gem of early Modernism, the ultimate unreliable narrator novel, Ford's The Good Soldier. That's Monday, January 12, at 7 PM.
Never joined us before? No problem! Our book club meetings are open to anyone who wants to discuss a particular title.

Thanks for a great 2014, and now onward into 2015!
