¡FELIZ DÍA DE LOS MUERTOS!
In the Middle School on November 1, our all-school, student-led Day of the Dead celebration turned the Great Hall and the Allen Library into a corner of Mexico for an afternoon.
In the 16th year of this anticipated annual St M tradition, eighth graders researched and cooked authentic Mexican dishes for everyone, learning as they did about the origins of many popular foods. Seventh graders prepared beautiful ofrendas (offerings) and made oral and written presentations in Spanish and English to celebrate and commemorate the lives of family members who have passed away. What a fiesta!

Noon Dismissal Day on Tuesday, November 7
A friendly reminder that Tuesday, November 7, is a NOON DISMISSAL DAY for students. No Extended Day.

LS Fruit and Vegetable Challenge
The Lower School Fruit and Vegetable Challenge will take place November 1- November 10.
During these days, students will tally if they ate a serving of fruits or vegetables at lunch or snack. The grade who wins will earn an extra P.E. class and fruit party. Students will also discuss in P.E. class the importance of eating a well-balanced diet.

Annual Thanksgiving Canned Food Drive
St. Michael's all-school canned food drive is November 6-14 to benefit the St. Michael's Church Food Pantry. In these challenging economic times, the Food Pantry is serving more people than ever. Food items will be collected in homerooms and advisories.
See this flyer for a more comprehensive list of suggested donations. Please ensure the canned goods you donate from your pantry have not expired. (No glass jars, please.)
The cans collected will be "blessed" at our Thanksgiving Chapel service. As Harvest Helpers, our fifth graders will sort all of the food donations, deliver them to the Food Pantry, and learn about food insecurity in Richmond. Thank you in advance for your support of this service outreach project!

Holiday Wreath-Making Workshop
Join us for a St. Michael's Parents' Association (SMPA) Holiday Wreath Making Fundraiser, led by Sue Mondeau of Su Su's Petals!
When: Sunday, November 26, 2-4 PM
Where: Singleton Hall - Great Hall
Price: $125 pp
Details:
- Su Su's Petals provides fresh greenery, special accent greenery and berries, wreath forms, paddle wire, and a special box of sweet treats for each guest!
- Please bring your own clippers if you have them, though extras will be provided.
- You are also welcome to bring your own ribbon.
- Capacity is capped at 30 people.
- Registration deadline EXTENDED to Sunday, November 5.
