Three Minute Thesis Winners Announced

The 10th annual Georgia Tech Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition took place on April 4, where 12 scholars presented their groundbreaking research in just three minutes using a language appropriate for a non-specialist audience After five preliminary rounds and a riveting final round, four graduate students were named winners, each earning a research travel grant to support their continued academic journey.

Georgia Tech Celebrates NSF Fellowship Awardees Buzz Card Access Expands to Include Online International Students
|
Georgia Tech’s BuzzCard Center has initiated a pilot program to provide BuzzCards to international students enrolled in the Online Master of Science in Computer Science (OMSCS) program. Beginning in Fall 2024, students in the UAE, UK, India, Singapore, and South Korea received their official Georgia Tech BuzzCards via international shipping. This initiative aims to bridge the gap between online and in-person experiences by offering OMSCS students a tangible connection to the Institute. With over 3,000 international students in the program, the effort supports Georgia Tech’s vision of inclusivity, affirming that all students—regardless of location—are equally part of the Georgia Tech community. This NSF solicitation offers support for research projects that will bring together experts from one or more of the social, behavioral and economic (SBE) science disciplines with experts across other scientific and engineering disciplines to support substantial and potentially pathbreaking and use-inspired fundamental research that will help to strengthen American infrastructure. Proposals must bring deep leadership expertise in at least one SBE program area, and provide details on how such SBE disciplinary expertise and leadership will contribute to strengthening American infrastructure. Proposals must also bring relevant expertise in the focal infrastructure itself.

DOE Science Graduate Student Research Program Funding: May 7
|
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Science Graduate Student Research (SCGSR) program provides funding for Ph.D. candidates in the physical sciences to conduct part of their thesis research at a U.S. DOE National Laboratory. This is an excellent opportunity for accessing cutting edge instrumentation and facilities that may enhance the research of your faculty and the training of your students. Applications to the program require a research proposal prepared by the graduate student under the supervision of their Ph.D. thesis advisor, and the deadline of the current solicitation is May 7, 2025.

Take a break and relax with registered therapy dogs from CAREing Paws Wednesday, April 23 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Price Gilbert's Grove Level, next to INFODesk.
Volunteers will be at the library to offer the community a chance to spend relaxing downtime with furry friends.

Applications are now open for students interested in becoming a Peer Coach for the Fall 2025 semester with the Center for Mental Health Care and Resources. The program trains Tech students to provide one-on-one support and education to their peers to help them in identifying and accomplishing specific academic, social or other personal goals related to concerns commonly faced in college.Applicants must submit an application with two letters of recommendation no later than April 18.
