Events: Bryan Dewsbury Keynote and DAS

Bryan Dewsbury Keynote and Workshop: Thursday, October 27th

Due to weather conflicts, Prof. Dewsbury will be joining us on campus on Thursday, October 27th. See the whole schedule, and sign up for the Keynote, the Workshop, or both here

Disability and Accessibility Services Event: Wednesday, October 19th

Disability and Acessibility Services is offering an exciting event for instructors and students: "Five ways DAS supports faculty and students." Find more information (including zoom information) on the event flyer.

Teaching Walk and Talk: Monday, October 17th at 11am in front of the EIC

Join Hub staff on a walk every first Thursday and every third Monday of the month from 11-12. We will meet near the entrance of the Mardigian Library (new location!)

Accessibility Awareness

Do you want to make your online courses (or online materials for any course) more accessible? Are you interested in learning more about how people with disabilities access web content? Try following Accessibility Awareness on twitter (@A11yAwareness). This account shares useful information on accessibility that is applicable in a teaching context and beyond. For example, did you know that text in all capital letters can be more difficult for people with disabilities to read?

Prepare for Bryan Dewsbury visit

Prof. Dewsbury has asked those attending the events on October 27th to listen to a podcast from This American Life: Three Miles (61 min) and to read an article by Dr. Dewsbury: Deep teaching in a college STEM classroom in advance of the event. He has also helpfully provided some reflection questions to guide the pre-work.
