Message from the President
As we wrap up the Fall semester at SBCC, I want to wish you and yours a restful holiday season and a happy new year. At SBCC, we are hard at work getting the campus ready for Spring 2017. There are many things for us to be proud of from the Fall semester. Some of those highlights are shared in this month's newsletter. SBCC Students Make Care for a Year Without War at UN Peace Summit
Three SBCC students representing the Santa Barbara delegation of "2020 A Year Without War" (AYWW) were invited by the United Nations to participate in the International Day of Peace celebrations in New York. Read More... 

Vaqueros Have Greatest Fall Season Ever
It was the greatest Fall athletic season in SBCC Vaquero history in 2016 with three women's teams making the State Final 4 and all three finishing in the Top 3. The football team set 12 school records and hosted a bowl game for the first time in 33 years. Read More...

CTE Credentials in Health Lead to Sizeble Wage Earnings
Students who earn health credentials, including two-year degrees or certificates, from career technical education programs at California community colleges increase their earnings by an average of 50 percent, according to a report released today by the Public Policy Institute of California (PPIC). Mitch Wishnowsky, an All-State punter on the SBCC football team in 2014, won the Ray Guy Award as the nation's top punter. Read More...


SBCC Winter Break
We wish our SBCC Community a happy and restful winter break. The campus is closed from December 12 - January 11, with Spring 2017 semester classes starting January 17th.

Please note winter break availability for these campus locations:
La Playa Athletic Field: Open Daily, but closed December 18-19
Gymnasium: Closed December 12 - January 6
Luria Library: Closed until January 16
SBCC Board of Trustees Meetings — January 12 and 26, 2017
The SBCC Board of Trustees will meet on January 12, 2016  and January 26, 2017 at 4 p.m. in A-211 at SBCC. The Agenda for the meeting can be found at least 72 hours prior to the meeting on the Board webpage. All of the SBCC Board meetings are live streamed and archived for public viewing. SBCC President to discuss "The Place of Community Colleges in Higher Education"  

Dr. Anthony E. Beebe, Superintendent/President of SBCC will be part of a discussion on the place of Community Colleges in Higher Education. This event, hosted by Fielding Graduate University, will take place on Tuesday, January 10, 2017.
