"No Bassett hounds allowed." The good people at our second church built a parsonage for us. We were newly married with no kids. In a weak moment we adopted a Bassett hound and named him after our student minister. A good friend told us Robbie had to be an outside dog.
The ancient Egyptians did not like livestock. Joseph's family were herdsmen. So he advocated for them with Pharaoh to let them stay in Goshen. Pharaoh agreed and offered for them to care for his livestock as well. Once again, God provided a place for his people.
What about Robbie? A fence facilitated his habitat. Melanie's dad built a great doghouse for him, covering it with cedar shingles. Robbie thought they were delicious. In hindsight, we marvel at Jim's concern for his grand-dog. The righteous care for their animals!
Just so, our Heavenly Father cares about all the details of our lives. He loves to give good gifts to all his children. Jesus, our great Advocate is preparing a place for us in our Father's house. We were on the outside, but he has adopted us into his family!
