Walsh University has stepped up to help business professionals keep up with the ever-changing world of artificial intelligence (AI), with a new advanced degree track, available for the 2026-27 academic year, to prepare business leaders to evaluate, manage and implement AI solutions. With recent approvals by the Ohio Department of Higher Education and the Higher Learning Commission, the Master of Business Administration in AI Management is the newest available track for those who want an edge in managing the world of AI. Nearly 500 Walsh University students, employees, alumni and friends enjoyed Walsh University Night at the Cleveland Guardians on Aug. 28. President Tim Collins threw out the first pitch to start the Guardians’ game against the Kansas City Royals. The 8th Annual Community Freedom Summit, hosted by Not for Sale: One Step at a Time in partnership with Walsh University, takes place from 9 a.m.- noon, Sept. 12, at the Cecchini Center Alumni Arena, with Walsh alumna Amy Alexy as the keynote speaker. This annual event raises awareness for human trafficking prevention through education, reflection, and community action. Alexy ’99, chief people officer at Signature Aviation and a board member of the nationally recognized crisis support center for human trafficking, Covenant House, will deliver a keynote address on the topic of, “Think globally, act locally in the fight against human trafficking,” exploring practical ways individuals and organizations can combat trafficking within their own communities. Following the presentation, participants will take part in a one-mile, single-file walk of silence to honor victims and survivors of human trafficking and to visibly demonstrate the community’s commitment to ending exploitation. You don’t have to be a mental health expert to help someone. Walsh University Counseling Services on World Suicide Prevention Day, Sept. 10, will offer free training in QPR, which stands for question, persuade and refer -- three simple steps to help save a life from suicide.  The training is free and open to all students, faculty and staff, from 3-4:30 p.m. in St. Martha’s Room of the Barrette Business and Community Center. The Cavs Cave food and necessity pantry is open for the new academic year. The pantry, located the lower level of the Hannon Child Development Center, is for students experiencing temporary financial challenges who need a little help. The Cave offers basic food options, hygiene products, and, when available, linens and other bedding. Soon, donation bins for the Cave will be placed around campus. Needed items include boxed or microwaveable dinners, instant hot cereals, single-serve cold cereals, soup, granola bars, crackers and other single-serve snacks; tooth brushes, toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo, body wash, feminine hygiene products and laundry soap. For donations of clean blankets, pillows, towels or twin-size bedding, please contact Cavs Cave supervisor Nick Morris Ph.D., director of Community Learning and Leadership, Blouin Scholars Program, at nmorris@walsh.edu to arrange a delivery. Please make students in need aware of this service, and refer students experiencing long-term or more significant challenges, to the CARE Team to alert those who can assist. Walsh University President Tim Collins was featured on a recent episode of the Kolbecast, the podcast of Kolbe Academy, a Napa, California-based Catholic online academy and homeschool provider. President Collins shared his experience and wisdom on discernment, and talked about how we can always communicate with God for guidance, particularly on big questions and decisions. Dust off your boots and join in the fun for the Walsh Women’s Committee’s annual Boot Scootin’ Barbeque, 6-10 p.m., Friday, Sept. 11, at the Hoover Park Dance Hall and Grounds. Proceeds from the evening of food, music and dancing directly support Walsh University student scholarships. The evening includes dinner from Old Carolina Barbecue, toe-tapping music by the Three Amigos, beginner-friendly line dancing led by Sarah Colston, a photo station with Marc Biss, and a variety of silent auction items for winning. There are prizes for guests wearing the best western gear. It’s a night to come together, have some fun, and support a worthy cause. Get tickets!
