This can include a position description and/or contact information. Our preferred date to have all information is April 24th; however, materials can be submitted whenever they are available.
If you have any questions please contact musaga@miamioh.edu. Thank you in advance for any opportunities you are able to provide to our students!

Tech Tip of the Week

From Jen O'Brien
TIP: Turn on the "canned response" from Google Labs for Gmail.
WHY: Do you frequently find yourself getting similar requests from students and having to type out the same type of response over and over? Wouldn't it be nice to just have those pre-typed and ready to go? Canned Response has got you covered!
HOW: In your email, go to the gear icon and select "Settings".

In settings, go to the "Labs" tab at the top.
Enable the "Canned Response" Lab.
Now go back to your Inbox and compose a new email - keep it as generic as you can. You can always edit this with little tweaks each time you use it.
When your canned response is ready, select the little triangle in the bottom right corner and select "Canned Response." This is where you can save and edit responses, delete old responses no longer needed, and insert saved responses into new emails.
Enjoy!

--------------------------------------------------------------
NOTE: This year we aim to provide a night filled with entertainment while bringing awareness and support to an important cause. The philanthropic cause that we plan to support during the Step Show this Saturday wil be The Community Foundation for Greater Flint. The Community Foundation for Greater Flint aims to help those still impacted by the contaminated water running through the old pipes of Flint, Michigan. Since 2014, residents of Flint have been advised by city officials to simply boil their tap water even when disease-causing organisms were likely to be growing and evidence of lead was and continues to be extremely visible. Children exposed to lead poising are likely to have impaired cognition, behavioral disorders, and hearing problems. Lead consumption can affect the heart, kidneys and nerves. Although there are medications that may reduce the amount of lead in the blood, treatments for the adverse health effects of lead have not been created yet. City officials have since ordered that the water be disinfected with chemicals leaving harmful byproducts that could increase the risk of cancer.
Why did we choose Flint?
It is hard to believe that residents of this city have been forced to live under these harmful conditions going on 3 years. The city of Flint is less than 5 hours from Miami University, and last year 848 students from the state of Michigan were admitted to Miami. Therefore, it is likely that there are students on this campus who might be impacted or know people impacted by the Water Crisis. 41.2% of Flint residents live below the poverty line which means they can't afford to leave or find a new place to live even when their own city is killing them. It is also important to note that 56.6% of the residents are African-American, which hits close to home. As the governing council of nine historically Black Greek-letter organizations NPHC has a responsibility to support, uplift, and educate our community both near and far.
