ERB Testing This Week

A friendly reminder that ERB testing for Grades 3-8 will take place THIS WEEK, September 30-October 4.
These annual standardized tests provide St. Michael’s with extensive information on individual, grade-level and school-wide student performance relative to specific norming groups.  The tests focus on language-related tasks and mathematical abilities and skills, and the School carefully analyzes the results from each year’s testing.  This information is considered as we engage in ongoing curriculum review, and it provides teachers a better understanding of the learning profiles of our students.
St. Michael’s recognizes that ERBs are but one aspect of a child’s academic journey and parents should review the results as such.  It is important, however, that each child does his or her best to provide an accurate picture of current abilities and achievement as these test scores become a part of a child’s academic file which helps the School view a pattern of test results.  They are also a component of a student’s eighth grade transcript package when they apply to high school.
Tests will be administered first thing in the morning when students are fresh. Please take extra care to ensure students arrive at school on time.
There is no way to “study” for ERBs. A good night’s sleep and regular healthy exercise & eating habits will help students perform their best. As per our handbook, it may not be possible for students to make up all missed sections of the test.
NOTE: 6th and 7th grade students will need to charge their Chromebooks each night and bring them to School every day for testing.
