Our Dragons ROARED this Fall

As we start the winter co-curricular season, we wish to honor ALL of our Middle School athletes and coaches who gave it their all in Dragon athletics this fall. Most impressive is the huge number of students participating in Dragon sports. We are pleased to share the following season recaps:
Cross Country (Co-Ed)
Cross Country had yet another strong team this year with a good balance of new and experienced runners on a roster of 30 runners. 8th grader Brady Scioscia led the team this year by winning nearly every race outright and even tying the course record at Roslyn by posting a 13:47 on their 2.25 miles. The team also participated in two new meets: the first-ever meet at St. Catherine's River Road fields and the MileStat Pole Green Invitational where Evie Nowery, Grayson Buelow, and Ella Kramer finished in the top 50 in their respective genders. Other notable finishes included 3 of our relay teams completing 12 miles in 90 minutes, the boys finishing 4th in the Collegiate JV invitational, and the team finishing 3rd overall at Roslyn in September. Coaches: Christian Hansen and Philip Tickle.
Soccer (Co-Ed)
Dragons love soccer as 36 students joined our soccer program! The 7th and 8th Grade White team had an excellent season - wrapping up with a record of 6-2. Caroline DeGuenther and Hayes Sheppard led the team to key away victories against the St. Christopher’s and Collegiate's boys' teams. Coach Reid wishes the best of luck to our 8th graders in their future soccer endeavors.

The 6th grade Blue team finished with a well-fought record of 0-2-5 – achieving key ties against Richmond Montessori School and St. Edward’s. Des Unice was our leading scorer with 2 major goals both assisted by Reagan Keeton. The Blue team showed tremendous heart, often playing against older and larger opponents, yet never gave up. Coach Reid looks forward to next season with you all!  Coach: Reid McBride. Big thanks as well to St M parent John Mills who volunteered his time to help coach.
Field Hockey (Girls)
The Middle School field hockey team had a great season this year!  As 25 girls tried out, the players were split into two teams.  The Blue team was comprised of mostly 8th graders with four 7th graders. The White team was made up of mostly 6th graders and was led by four key 7th graders. The players' stick skills and strategic play improved as the season progressed and culminated in amazing performances against the Panthers in doubleheader games. The team spirit and cohesiveness of play demonstrated by both the younger and older teams at these games was impressive. The Blue team's season record was 3-3-1, and the Blue team's record was 1-5. Coach: Katherine Martin. Special thanks go out to Jennifer Burris and Diane Dodson, team parents who volunteered their time to help coach.
Mountain Biking (Co-Ed)
The 18 members of our Mountain Biking team had great fun exploring both established and newly-cleared trails on our 70-acre campus. A highlight is always the jumps! Coach: Ben Hayward.
