This year’s Winter Celebration was another success for CPFM. Folks from all over the unit pitched in to make it great. From food, to floral, to festivities they were fabulously attended feasts with exciting games, prizes and plenty of time to relax and socialize. Thank you to all that helped make it possible and all that attended.

I just wanted to write a quick note to let you know that I really appreciated the service I received recently. I submitted a call log ticket just before 11:00am for custodial services in my office and the response was so fast – it was done by noon! The work was done by ‘pabloh’ so please pass along my sincere thanks for the quick response. I had to submit another call log ticket just before 8:00 am and didn’t know what category to put it into. Work control got the ticket to the right place, and it was also addressed super quickly.
Thank you and happy holidays!

I want to give the greatest of kudos to Wally Morris with Custodial Services. I’d put off getting my wedding ring resized, and that’s probably what led to it coming off my finger when drying my hands with a paper towel…that ended up in the trash! I realized this when I got home, promptly freaked out, and called work control, who got Wally on the case. By the time I got back to campus he’d gone through all the trash from the Design and Construction offices…and found my ring! I can’t imagine not having my most prized possession, and I can’t thank Wally enough for taking the extra time to reunite me with it!

Celebrating the Successes of the UO Natural Areas Program |
|
|
On December 2nd, over 70 participants gathered to celebrate the successes of the UO Natural Areas Program and brainstorm future projects. The 10 presenters covered a wide range of topics from restoration to engagement strategies used on the UO Willamette River Natural Area (WRNA). In addition, students from Kory Russel’s Foundation of Environmental Design Studio showcased 3D models of the Millrace Outfall that enhance fish and wildlife habitat, and the Assistant Natural Areas stewards presented on their restoration achievements of removing 8,000+ gallons of invasive species from the WRNA. Based on the number of collaborators that attended, it is exciting to think about what this dedicated group will accomplish in the future!

Exterior LED Lighting on Campus |
|
|
Exterior lighting on campus is important for safety and creating a nighttime environment that is comfortable for people and wildlife, especially this time of year when the days are short.
Thanks to the Electrical Shop, led by Rob Berg, and Roland Guerrero for testing out a new style of exterior LED light so CPFM can evaluate whether there are better options for nighttime lighting, while still being compatible with our campus standard fixtures.
Walk along the Millrace path, just south of the Wilkinson house, if you want to see the light in action. In the not so distant future, you will also be able to compare 2 more fixtures from the same company along the Millrace Path.
(Note, the color for the samples are black. If the use of this style of fixture is used on campus it will be green to match the fluted poles)
