This is the story of a military veteran who found peace by working with wounded animals.  There will be a bird, a small raptor, here at the event.  Fascinating story! Come ready to ask questions.

Donald Wellman Stephen Scaer
The Poetry Society of New Hampshire
Donald Wellman (shown left) and Stephen Scaer are very accomplished NH poets. They will headline our monthly meeting of the Poetry Society this Wed., June 18, at 7 PM. Their readings will be followed by an open mic event--all are welcome! Come to read, or come to listen.

Sue Miller
Meet Sue Miller!
We are very excited to announce that fabulous novelist and book club favorite Sue Miller will join us here at the bookstore on Monday, June 30, at 7 PM to discuss and sign her new novel, The Arsonist--which is set in New Hampshire!  The early buzz on this novel is very strong. I was lucky enough to snag an early copy--the book doesn't hit stores until June 24--and I can tell you, it is a VERY GOOD read. Come early to get a good seat! And pre-order your copy today!

John Scalzi!
If you're a science fiction fan, you're going to be mighty impressed to learn that 2013 Hugo Award Winner John Scalzi will be joining us in September to talk about his new book, Locked In.  Have a look--the premise is intriguing, to say the least. And if the execution is as good as Redshirts, it will be awesome. ...Not to gush or anything.
Amazon vs. Hachette (and the rest of the world)
It's a complicated story, and perhaps your eyes are already glazing over every time you see the headline. But if you'd like the inside scoop on what it all means, have a look at this piece and this piece. And if you'd like to hear it from the perspective of your local bookstore owner, don't be shy, I'll be glad to give you chapter and verse. Come on down. --mh
