"At the risk of sounding like a curmudgeon,” says Barnes, “I signed my first writer contract in 1985. I have been with almost every major publisher in Nashville over the last 30 years, but I have never been more excited about a relationship than this one. Eleven Eleven has two great song people—Jewel Coburn and Jason Morris—who are right on top of what’s happening now, as well as being well-versed in the soul of Nashville. We have known each other for years, and I can’t believe it took me this long to get home. This is home.”
Says Morris, “Jewel and I are thrilled to have signed Max. He will be a great creative addition to our company, especially given his ability to write in different genres and provide us the musical ammo for films and television. As son of the legendary Max D. Barnes [member of the Nashville Songwriters Hall Of Fame], he has a luminous country music lineage. We look forward to many years of success together.”
Morris and Coburn founded Eleven Eleven Music Group in 2012.
Among Barnes’ other songwriting triumphs are Randy Travis’ “Before You Kill Us All,” John Anderson’s “Let Go Of The Stone,” Billy Dean’s “That Girl’s Been Spying On Me” and Joe Diffie’s “Tougher Than Nails” and “A Night To Remember.”
Barnes’ production credits include soundtrack music for the movies A Letter From Death Row and Major League: Back To The Minors.
Soon after Coburn and Morris co-founded Eleven Eleven, the company quickly scored two Don Williams cuts—“I Just Come Here For The Music” (recorded with Alison Krauss) and “Stronger Back.”
In addition to Barnes, the Eleven Eleven roster of writers includes Nathan Bell, Doug Gill, Angela Kaset, Charley Stefl and Wendy Waldman.
