UC San Diego Secures Extension for Direct Retro Transactions

UCPath Center has granted UC San Diego a one-time exception to extend the retirement of the Direct Retro tool. As a result, we are offering three extra months of Direct Retro tool availability, enabling users to post transactions in July, August, and September.

We appreciate the efforts of all users who have contributed to cleaning up Direct Retro transactions and encourage them to take advantage of this extended opportunity to ensure a smooth transition.

Please note that beginning July 1, 2025, users will now see a new navigation path to the Direct Retro tool in UCPath.

What’s changing in July?

Current Navigation: General Ledger Administration Homepage > General Ledger Tasks > Process Direct Retro
New Navigation: General Ledger Administration Homepage > General Ledger Tasks > Cost Transfer > Process Direct Retro.

Comparison of current and future dropdown menu for Direct Retro. Currently the top folder is listed as Direct Retro. Beginning July 1st the top folder will be Cost Transfer.

What will remain the same?

There will be no change to the functionality of the Direct Retro tool.
The previously shared June 25, 2025 Direct Retro deadline for BW/MO posting for June posting will remain the same.

What are the upcoming Direct Retro deadlines?

June 25, 2025: BW/MO deadline for posting in June
July 11, 2025: BW/MO deadline for posting in July
August 12, 2025: BW/MO deadline for posting in August
September 11, 2025: BW/MO High-Risk deadline for posting in September
September 17, 2025: BW/MO for Non-High-Risk deadline for posting in September

What are some important considerations?

Do not submit or approve any Direct Retro transactions between September 18 and September 30. Transactions entered during this period will be deleted by UCPath Center during the deprecation process.
Beginning October 1, 2025, users will only be able to view previously processed Direct Retro transactions in UCPath.

Attend an Office Hour session with our subject matter experts.
For errors or defects: Submit a Services & Support ticket to the Payroll Financial Management team.
For Health Sciences Departments: Submit a Hypercare Transactional Support Request through the VCHS Business Service Hub.
