The Beryl Institute | Patient Experience Monthly
ON THE ROAD

Our latest On the Road took us to Cherokee Indian Hospital located in the Great Smoky Mountains of Western North Carolina where they take a dramatically different approach in their model of care. Illnesses are viewed as a reflection of deep historical trauma, not something that can be helped with simple symptom-management. In a time where patient experience can be seen as a box to check or a desire to improve surveys, this Western North Carolina organization shines as a model for the true heart of Patient Experience: to reduce suffering in a loving and strategic way.

CASE STUDY

Imaging plays a critical role in patient care and imaging exams can be a very scary procedure for young patients. Phoenix Children's wanted to harness the potential of radiology to improve and ultimately transform patient care not only with an innovative technology and care solutions perspective but a patient anxiety one as well as they both play a critical role in improving imaging outcomes.

CASE STUDY

By enlisting staff in designing the patient experience, Copper Ridge Surgery Center has taken a grassroots effort to build understanding and awareness of all that patients experience and to help staff see the importance of their role in the design experience.
