Hello, Student,
Happy fall! As we head into Week 6, hopefully you’re settling into your classes and finding a routine that works for you. With midterms coming up, things can get busy pretty quickly. Give yourself some grace and take breaks when you need them. Sometimes support can simply be grabbing coffee with a friend, taking a walk, or meeting with a professor during office hours to check in on your progress.
Save the Date: USF will celebrate National Transfer Student Week from Oct. 21 to Oct. 27, with events and opportunities to connect with other transfer students. We’d also love to feature you, so be sure to complete our Transfer Student Spotlight Form.
Be sure to also check out the USF events calendar for more ways to connect across campus. We’re glad you’re here and hope you continue finding people, spaces, and experiences that make USF feel like your community.

Meet Jadyn Gee: A nursing major who transferred from Community College of San Mateo, and is the current president of the Transfer Student Alliance.
Advice for Fellow Transfer Students: "Don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone! Get involved, meet new people, and be proactive in campus activities! It's difficult, especially if you are a commuter, to engage in all the activities, but it only takes one person to connect with, and you will soon find yourself meeting other transfers!"

Meet Professor Hwaji Shin: "As a former transfer and first-generation immigrant college student, I understand firsthand the challenges of navigating a new institution. As associate dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and champion of transfer champions, I focus on identifying the specific challenges transfer students face at USF and finding concrete ways to remove those roadblocks. Above all, I am dedicated to building a strong sense of community where every transfer student feels seen, valued, and fully confident that they belong here."
Advice for Transfer Students: "Make time in your busy schedule to connect with faculty and staff members, especially your faculty transfer champions! You are here not only to earn a degree, but also to build meaningful human connections and networks that will support and guide you for years to come."
