On Monday, September 5, at 8:40 p.m., the Department of Campus Safety received a report of an attempted robbery that occurred at approximately 8:36 p.m. outside of Othmer Hall, in Brooklyn.
The victim, an NYU student, reported that while he was entering Othmer Hall, an unknown passerby attempted to take his bag from him. The victim was able to regain possession of his bag. The assailant then appears to spray a water-like substance on him and hits him with a t-shirt. The victim was able to flee by entering Othmer Hall and reporting the incident to a Campus Safety Officer. The suspect fled up a driveway towards Tillary Street.
No weapons were displayed and the victim reported no injuries; the victim was offered Wellness and other support services by the University. The incident was reported to law enforcement.
Description of Reported Offenders: The suspect appears to have been accompanied by three other people. All four appear to be male presenting teenagers of dark complexion. The main suspect is about 5'7", wore blue shorts and was not wearing a top.
