Thank You for Supporting Seeds for Seniors
|
Thank you to the many friends who supported our GAgives Day campaign on Giving Tuesday! You helped us exceed our goal and raised over $22,000 for our Horticultural Therapy Seeds for Seniors program.
Because of donors like you, our elders can continue planting, watering, tending seedlings, and engaging in meaningful activities that strengthen their bodies, brighten their days, and spark treasured memories.

Elders Inspire New Designs in Georgia Tech Collaboration
|
This fall’s partnership with Georgia Tech’s College of Design continued to grow as undergraduate students in the Applied Design Methods for Community Well-being course completed their class projects with elders at A.G. Rhodes Wesley Woods. Building on weeks of observation, interviews, and hands-on collaboration during Horticultural Therapy sessions, students created early models of adaptive tools inspired directly by feedback from the elders participating in the sessions. Students recently presented these models to the elders, followed by a Friendsgiving celebration. In the spring, students hope to develop working prototypes based on these early models.

This holiday season has been epic! All of the activity, volunteer projects, and festivities this month have made it feel like Christmas every day. We send a special thank you to volunteers from the A.G. Rhodes Board of Advisors, Georgia Natural Gas, and Jewels for Jewels. And we are especially thankful to be part of a collaboration between the Emory Goizueta Brain Health Institute, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, and research firm Performance Hypothesis, studying how artistic engagement could impact brain health and emotional well-being. Staff and elders had a sublime afternoon enjoying the ASOs annual holiday concert. Our emotional well-being was definitely improved!
