CNA Pathway Funding GRANTED! #WINNING
I sent this out to my school partners last week, but this is news that bears repeating.
Last week, Southeast Service Cooperative was notified that our CNA Pathway proposal will be funded through the Youth Skills Training  (YST) Grant (from the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry (MN DLI).
This new pathway is in partnership with Workforce Development, Inc. (WDI), South Central Service Cooperative and area employers. In this regional hybrid learning cohort, youth can receive an industry credential and paid work experience. Paid work experiences will also serve as a pipeline to fill entry level positions in skilled nursing facilities that fuel our local rural economies.
I and my fellow career navigators are currently working with high school counselors to identify students who: 1. have interest in a healthcare career, and 2. are eligible to receive priority placement in the fall 2021 cohort. Expect to hear more in the coming weeks as we finalize plans for the fall!
This Month's Theme:
Post-Secondary Month
Southeast Service Cooperative/Career Navigators are hosting a virtual event to promote and explore all things post-secondary this month and you and your students are invited to participate.
Want to take a look to see what it's all about? If you have credentials for FutureForward™, just log in and use the "Search Experiences" tool to bring up the calendar. Then, just register for one (or all) of the weeks.
If you don't yet have log in credentials, no problem! Just email me, and I'll get you set up, along with any students you want to have access. It really is that easy.

Post-secondary month is appropriate for students in middle school and high school. The objective is for students to explore the post-secondary options available in our region. Colleges, military, trades, and apprenticeships will be highlighted from the 11 county-area, with special attention given to the most widely attended institutions by our students in Southeast Minnesota.

Pre-recorded sessions and activities are designed with the virtual classroom in mind. How you specifically use them for your students is flexible. Educators can use the pre-recorded sessions and activities each day, once a week, as a unit project, in groups, as a whole class or independently. Links to the sessions and activities are included in our Post-secondary Month “Toolkit” on FutureForward™.

Many of our region’s top five colleges and universities are participating and are looking forward to connecting with your students.

CTE Month 2021
Governor Walz announced that February 2021 was to be celebrated as CTE Month throughout Minnesota. To show appreciation for our CTE teachers, gift bags were delivered to each of my school partners. And once again, thank you! I know your work goes far beyond one month. Thank you all!!!
Pencil This In: May 14
On Friday, May 14 (7:30-8:30 a.m.) Southeast Service Cooperative and the Career Navigator team will be hosting a Business and Community Partner Celebration to recognize the business and community members who are graciously volunteering their time and talents to help our students with career exploration activities.
These activities include career fair presenter, job shadow host, informational interviews, guest classroom speaker, as well as many other roles. The support from these partnerships is incredibly valuable to our students and schools, and we are excited to be able to express our gratitude, and share some of the enormous impact that partners are having across SE Minnesota schools.
I will be reaching out later this month with more information about this event.
