NCMF Virtual Program - 29 January
"American Codebreakers at Bletchley Park, 1941-1945"
Our first virtual cryptologic program of 2021 will take place on January 29th at 10am EST.
"American Codebreakers at Bletchley Park, 1941-1945," will be held via Zoom webinar with guest speaker, Dr. David Sherman.
Although there are a limited number of seats available for the live broadcast, a recording of the program will be made available via our website. Please use the button below to sign up to attend (space permitting) or sign up to be notified when the recording is available.
Dr. Sherman will discuss a secret February 1941 U.S. visit to Britain’s wartime codebreaking center and how it set the stage for the enduring partnership that emerged after World War II, a partnership often called the closest and most important relationship in the history of intelligence. His monograph on the 1941 mission, The First Americans, is available online from the Center for Cryptologic History. Learn more about Dr. David Sherman via our Quarterly Programs page.

ON THIS DATE IN HISTORY (#OTD)
25 Jan on Cryptologic Calendar
As you know, the NCMF website features an "On This Date in History" (#OTD) Calendar that highlights a variety of important dates in history related to cryptology, cybersecurity, computers, military events, and more. The initial source for content was the annual NSA CCH's Cryptologic History Calendar. However, over the years we have added new entries and expanded upon many of the existing entries with more information, photos, and links to external resources.
The image above is a mission photo acquired by the NCMF for the Museum and is related to the #OTD Calendar entry for 25 January. On 25 January 1987, an EA-3B Ranger 12 recon aircraft crashed following an operational mission while attempting to make a night landing on the USS Nimitz during blue water operations in the Mediterranean. The Ranger 12 sank with its seven crew abooard. The National Cryptologic Museum has the one remaining part from Ranger 12 - the Indexer Box. LEARN MORE.
The 2021 CCH Cryptologic History Calendar is only available in digital format due to COVID-19. We have included a link to that PDF here and on our website
