A Color-Filled Urban Garden! Design Inspiration from Sandra Mao
Bold blooms, bright colors, and fantastic foliage in a small space? If it sounds too good to be true, think again!
We recently connected with Sandra Mao, whose dazzling Zone 10b urban garden is a rainbow dream, to learn how she turned her sunny garden into the brightest home on the block with fantastic flowers like Encore Azaleas.

In our latest blog, we're shining the spotlight on Sandra's stunning Southern California garden, where design inspiration abounds. Here's one of her top tips:

Pair your edible plants and ornamentals: On stunning showcase in Sandra's garden are a wide range of edible plants, ranging from violet-hued cauliflower to indigo tomatoes (yes, tomatoes!). Interspersed amongst the colorful cruciferous veggies and tantalizing treats are bright blooms like Sandra's Encore Azaleas. Since she's gardening in a tighter space, Sandra opted for petite, container-friendly varieties like Autumn Majesty, which glows with ruffled blooms in a compact form. The purple blooms on this Encore Azalea are particularly striking when planted near vegetables like summer squash with sunny yellow hues.
Sandra is also growing Autumn Lily, an Encore Azalea with abundant white blooms, some of which feature a bright purple streak. Its crisp white blooms emerge in spring, enchanting garden visitors and accenting colorful edible plantings.
