A note from Sarah
"Sharing live music, lighting up lives!" for 15 years? "WooHOO!" is dang right! (Phew, that was easy - not.) However . . .
A challenge worth meeting is
a journey worth taking.
I am so thankful to our board, our staff and volunteers; to our Musician Partners, our Concert and Teaching Artists; for gifts from generous foundations, organizations and other supporters, and from many individuals (known and unknown) far and wide. And to our participants who clap sing dance learn and play along for the fun goodness of it.
Thank you ALL!
We have always had amazing boards and we are upholding that tradition. Our immediate past chair Alicia Rye has stepped down, and Lucia Folk now leads the board as its chair.
We also have just brought on Rob Jack to take the helm as the organization's Interim Executive Director as I leave this position.
Yes, that's right. I am passing the baton.
For now, I will still produce the Nashville and Knoxville FREE Daytime Concert Series and curate upcoming Learning Labs. I will also continue to work closely with Rob and the board to help our executive "A-Team" make this a smooth and seamless transition.
This journey continues to be a joy and a blessing for me. What a gift to be at this juncture: our first chapter affiliate in Knoxville growing and Music for Seniors poised to expand in Tennessee and beyond.
I predict that soon we will be offering our services to communities across the country. There are talented musicians and older adults everywhere. My vision has always been that there also eventually will be Music for Seniors chapters everywhere connecting area musicians and seniors via engaging shared live music experiences.
I am envisioning an exciting next personal chapter for myself as well. I will be performing and recording and continuing to "preach the gospel of Music for Seniors" as its chief proseletizer. Singin' travelin' speaking and writing about my journey as founder and about the amazing magic of immersive shared live music to promote joy, connect and enrich us, and to help heal our souls and the souls of our communities.
I am confident that Music for Seniors is perfectly positioned for its NEXT awesome 15 years - just as I am. So here we go . . . !
