Cardinal Newman Society Founder Visits Walsh University, Announces Walsh’s 5-Year Renewal in the Newman Guide |

Walsh University welcomed Patrick Reilly, President, CEO, and Founder of the Cardinal Newman Society, for a campus tour and a series of insightful discussions with students, faculty, and administrators. His visit last Wednesday highlighted the strong relationship between Walsh University and the Cardinal Newman Society, an organization devoted to promoting faithful Catholic education. The evening culminated in a defining moment as Reilly officially announced Walsh University’s renewal for a five-year inclusion in the prestigious Newman Guide to Choosing a Catholic University, a designation awarded to 23 colleges worldwide for their unwavering commitment to Catholic principles and education. Governor Mike DeWine Visits Walsh University for an In-Depth Look at Science of Reading Initiative |
|
|
Walsh University was privileged to welcome Ohio Governor Mike DeWine to campus last week, for an in-depth visit to learn more about the University’s leading role in the Science of Reading initiative, a statewide effort to enhance literacy for Ohio’s children. As one of the first institutions in Ohio to align its teacher preparation programs with the Science of Reading, Walsh University’s Division of Education began training its faculty as early as January 2019.
During his visit, Governor DeWine met with administrators, faculty, and students to explore how Walsh is equipping future educators with cutting-edge, evidence-based literacy instruction techniques. He also participated in an interactive session with teacher candidates who are already applying these methods in local elementary schools and seeing tangible results. Read More

Walsh Cavaliers Rugby Teams Dominate in Historic Debut with Major Victories |

|
The Walsh Cavalier Rugby teams are off to an incredible start, with both the men’s and women’s teams celebrating dominant victories last week. After welcoming players and coaches from Notre Dame College, Walsh University has quickly established itself as a powerhouse in national collegiate rugby. The men’s team secured a 62-10 win over Thomas More University in their debut match, while the women’s team triumphed 46-10 against Ohio University. Blouin Scholars Explored Lake Erie’s Bordering Cities, Gaining New Perspectives on Infrastructure, Human Flourishing, Housing, and Neighborhood Development |

This summer, a cohort of Walsh University Blouin Scholars, now in their junior year, embarked on a transformative journey around Lake Erie, visiting Detroit, London (Ontario), Buffalo, and Pittsburgh. This immersive experience connected their classroom knowledge with real-world challenges and marked a pivotal moment in their academic journey. Having started the Blouin Scholars Program as freshmen, focusing on infrastructure, human flourishing, housing, and neighborhood development, their summer travels represented the development of their community research plans. This journey allowed them to bridge theoretical knowledge with practical insights, enriching their junior year of study and preparing them for impactful community research. Read More

The Walsh University community gathered this morning for a solemn moment of silence in remembrance of 9/11, honoring the lives lost and paying special tribute to those in the military as well as first responders who continue to serve and protect our nation.
Join us at the Softball Field tonight, Wednesday, Sept. 11, from 5-6:30 p.m. for the Walsh University Patriot Day Homerun Derby, hosted by the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). Enjoy a fun evening with a food truck and support a meaningful cause, as all proceeds will benefit Legacy of Honor, a Louisville, OH-based organization supporting Veterans, First Responders, and their families.
Following the derby, cheer on our Men’s Soccer team at their Home Opener at Larry Staudt Field at 7 p.m. Wear your best patriotic gear to honor the significance of this day and remember those affected by the events of September 11, 2001.

Mark your calendars for the 6th annual Community Freedom Summit on September 28, hosted at Walsh University in partnership with Not For Sale: One Step At A Time. This year’s theme, “Technology in Human Trafficking,” will shed light on how traffickers exploit technology to target vulnerable individuals, including children. Hear from experts like Michael Wheeler and David Frattare, who will share valuable insights on how we can combat this growing threat.

The symposium highlights student achievements across all disciplines, including research, class projects, and service-learning experiences.
