Adventure Out for Fall Colors in Oregon

Dear Friend,
If you are looking for stunning fall foliage in Oregon, your best bet is to get out in mid-October. This is when the maples, birch, aspen, and ash will be turning yellow and the dogwoods and vine maples turn red. We've compiled a list of activities for hikers, bikers, and road-trippers that you can do this fall. Read the full article

September Featured Park:
Heceta Head Lighthouse State Scenic Viewpoint

The Heceta Head lighthouse is one of the most photographed on the Oregon coast. First operated in 1894, it remains in operation to this day. It stands over 200' above the Pacific Ocean on a rocky cliff about 12 miles north of Florence, off Highway 101.
Heceta Head is an ideal location to see whales during the winter and spring migrations. You can hike from the lighthouse to the Carl G. Washburne campground and beach on a 7-mile hiking trail that is part of the Oregon Coast Trail.
Between 2003 and 2006, Oregon Parks Forever helped raise needed funds for restoration of the Heceta lighthouse along with other lighthouses along the Oregon coast, all of which were suffering from deferred maintenance at the time.
