Hi Neighbor!

A month ago I noticed a woman staring at me. As if that wasn't creepy enough, she approached me practically in tears and said, "I'm so sorry for staring, but you look just like my best friend who died a month ago." It’s like she saw a ghost and the ghost was me! I hope I look like her before she died, I chuckled to myself!

Last week I had another unusual encounter. I was on the Radnor Trail when someone stopped me and said, "This is going to sound strange, but can I take your picture?" Apparently I look like her best friend in Alexandria, Virginia. She said she sees me all the time and she told her friend about me. The picture would prove to her friend that she has a double in Philadelphia.

Different cultures have different words for the look-alike phenomenon. The French use the word “sosie.” In German, the word is 'doppelganger,' a term also adopted into English. Supposedly, encountering your doppelganger can be a sign of bad luck, as it may be your evil twin, according to superstition. Since Diane Keaton appears to be a nice woman, I suppose my evil twin is either deceased or living outside DC. I hope I never meet her!

Have a great week!
Beth
