The Institute for Learning in Retirement: Engaged, Enriched, Enlightened.
Dear ILR Community,
I hope this finds you and your loved ones safe, healthy, and joyful during this unusual summer. Like you, I've been successfully navigating my way through these unprecedented times, overcoming challenges I couldn’t have imagined just a few months ago. Our combined determination will serve us well in the upcoming months.

As we look toward the fall, COVID-19 is still with us. While we all wished to see the pandemic in our rearview mirror by now, we're not there yet. Therefore, with your safety at the core of its decision, the I
LR Board of Directors has moved our fall programming online. Until we can safely meet in the classroom again, remote learning will provide us the connectedness we've been missing.
I certainly hope you'll join us for this new adventure in learning. With a positive attitude and a willingness to learn a few new tricks, I know we can accept this challenge, rise to the occasion, and make this fall a semester to remember. We are excited to have this option to open new doors we previously didn't know existed.
We are the Institute for Learning in Retirement. Together, let's embrace this opportunity and discover what a winning combination of resolve and optimism looks like.

Next steps

From tenuous baby steps to progressing by leaps and bounds, ILR has been hard at work behind the scenes preparing remote delivery of the fall semester. We'll be using the Webex video conferencing platform. If you've used Zoom, you'll find Webex very familiar.
Our Tech Team is in place and our instructors are nearly ready to unbolt and remove their Webex training wheels. Once they're steadily rolling along, we'll begin training sessions for the membership.
Eager to get started on your own? Live and recorded Webex classes can be found here. Be sure to choose Webex Meetings as the meeting type. A free Webex account is also available for your use and practice. Set up meetings with friends and family. Practice builds confidence.
Are you tech-savvy and experienced using Zoom or Webex? We're always looking for a few extra technical hands. If you'd like to join our team, please email the ILR office.

Calling you home

Have you moved from the area, possibly out of state or even the country? Or have you previously stepped away from classes because of mobility or hearing issues? Now, with ILR moving to remote delivery for the fall, you can teach for ILR or take classes once again. All it takes is a computer and an internet connection. Comfy pants are optional.

An inspirational ditty

As we go forth and embrace a new way of learning, it's important to remember, “There’s so much in this world we can learn, no matter how young or how old we are.”
Some things speak for themselves. With a little help from PBS Digital Studios, Fred Rogers delivers an inspiring message that reveals his timeless genius. His rediscovered gems, remixed by Symphony of Science’s John D. Boswell, will make today a beautiful day in everybody’s neighborhood. Enjoy the video. The refrain alone is worth remembering.
