ANNOUNCEMENTS
Handshake Tip:
Don't Make a Bad Impression with Employers and Alumni - Turn On Event Notifications
Employers and alumni often want to know who is coming to their events and will ask us how many students are expected.  When asked, we provide a list of attendees so they can identify people in their recruitment efforts.  When students sign up but don't show up for events, it makes both GW and the students look less professional.  In addition, when RSVPs are full and students don't attend, other students miss out on opportunities.

Most students don't intend to miss events or cause a classmate to miss out, so we have a solution: update your Handshake Event Notifications!  We recommend students choose BOTH email and notification reminders for the following reasons:
  • You will get a reminder 24 hours and 1 hour before your event.
  • You can get an email if we have to update the location, date or add details about new speakers and guests.
  • Get invitation emails for special events - employers and staff are send event invitations to alert students of special events that fit your industry interests.
  • We have a RSVP Cancellation Policy, so you don't want to get blocked from Handshake!
You can update your notification preferences by going either to the Notifications (then click Edit Preferences) or the Settings & Privacy section in the drop-down under your name (see below).
FAQ:  Can I apply for OCI if I am studying abroad? Yes! Apply and if you get invited for an interview, sign up for a slot and reach out to the recruiter or to your industry coach, saying, “I am looking forward to our interview.  I did want to let you know that I am currently studying abroad.  Therefore, I am wondering if I should keep the same slot (but by Skype), or would a different time work better?”
