COMMUNITIES + INFRASTRUCTURE

Film Friendly: OF+MO Hosts First Workshop Intensives
Last month, OF+MO held its first Oklahoma Film Friendly Workshop Intensives readying the state’s rural communities for the continued impact of the state’s film and television industry.

From Guymon to Antlers, 27 different towns attended the workshops, which took place in Chickasha and Owasso on January 10 & 11. Under the instruction of Oklahoma film location professionals and LMGI members Chris Kucharski (“Reservation Dogs”) and Alison Naifeh (“Stillwater”) of Locations Unlimited, these workshops provided valuable education and training to city and tribal leadership on the film production process from A to Z, so communities can know what to expect when working with film and television productions of all budget sizes in their areas and the economic benefits of doing so.

These workshops, an extension of OF+MO’s Oklahoma Film Friendly Community Program, were provided free of charge to local leadership and included additional support from valued partners, including Cherokee Film Commission, Chickasaw Economic Development Council, the Oklahoma City Film & Creative Industries Office and the Tulsa Office of Film, Music, Arts & Culture.

For more information on the Oklahoma Film Friendly Community Program, including scheduling an OF+MO engagement in your area, contact Yousef.Kazemi@okcommerce.gov.

FEATURED LOCATION
P.alice
P.alice is a historic art-deco wedding venue and event space located in Oklahoma City’s historic Automobile Alley. Dedicated to Pauline Alice, a world-renowned fine china painter who deeply admired art, its creators and love, P.alice is a film friendly location that promises to add a touch of unique creativity to any production or event hosted here.

A production designer’s dream, one of the features that makes this location so unique is the way the space has incorporated beautiful, hand-painted China pieces from around the world, hand-selected antique furniture and one-of-a-kind modern art décor, all with a story to tell. The eclectic space allows for 200 guests and/or a production crew needing additional space for filming, including a ceremony and bar area, dressing rooms and much more multi-functional spaces.

Many thanks to the owners of P.alice for sharing their property with us.

FEATURED BUSINESS
Resonant Head
Resonant Head, a recently completed music venue in Oklahoma City's historic Capitol Hill neighborhood, is a new outpost for the area's growing live music scene. Designed to be a carnival-like playground for both fans and artists, the venue reintroduced the building's original mid-century modern architecture as a psychedelic funhouse outfitted with a sunset-hued color palette, a nostalgic bar, a lush lounge, a surrealist stage and playful restrooms.
"We love putting an emphasis on local Oklahoma music at our venue and stage while also striving to make Oklahoma a bigger music scene for larger acts to notice and want to play this wonderful city and state. "
