Track attack, an event that we all remember, started in the 90s. This tradition started as a fundraiser to raise money for our track, and this event was predominantly on the track.
Track Attack included games on the track until weather became a common issue, which led to people having a choice. You could do games in the gym, you could do games on the track, or you could play dodgeball.
One year, Mr. Tappe decided to make this event more organized and create a tournament for those who want to play.
“Instead of just playing dodgeball, why don't we just divide into teams to add organization,” he said. As the years went on, dodgeball became more of a fan favorite for the Mustangs.
This year's dodgeball tournament will be Dec. 13, the week before Christmas Break. In years past, we have hosted this tournament at the beginning of the year and in the Spring. ¨We have many events in the spring such as Fun Friday, and the Winter time doesn't have as many things that we do that are fun as a community,¨ Mr. Tappe said.
The 2022 school year was the first year bringing this event back due to COVID, causing us to take two years off from the tradition.
¨Events such as these that came back from COVID — we tend to have an appreciation for it. It's a great community-building event that not a lot of schools can do. Us having fun to come together and play dodgeball is a great mental break away from the semester and the exams.¨
