A Guide to Research Dashboards |
Dear Colleague,
This edition of AIRE Connect highlights the research data dashboards available to academic and administrative leaders on the Lawrence and Edwards campuses.
Today, we're sharing five dashboards you should consider when evaluating research activity in your role as a dean, department chair, director of an academic unit, vice provost, or vice chancellor.
If you need access to the linked dashboards and don't currently have it, please contact AIRE-help@ku.edu.
As ever, please reach out to me (corinne-bannon@ku.edu) with feedback or questions.
With very best wishes,
Corinne Bannon
Chief Strategy & Data Officer and Vice Chancellor

Administering Unit vs Tenure Affiliation of Award PI Unit |
Research awards may be tracked and grouped in several ways depending on the specific needs of the project. Two common examples are grouping by administering unit or grouping by the tenure affiliation of the principal investigator (PI) of the award.
Administering Unit
This method groups awards based on which unit of the university is responsible for the award's administration. For example, International Affairs is an administering unit.
Tenure Affiliation of Award PI Unit
This method groups based on the tenure affiliation of the principal investigator (PI) of the award. For example, research award activity for faculty in the School of Business is credited to the School of Business.
Unless otherwise necessary, AIRE groups award data by tenure affiliation to ensure credit for activity generated by each academic department is recognized.

AIRE develops and maintains multiple research related dashboards, but the primary space for research data, Research Insights, is in Oracle Analytics Cloud. Below you will find a selection of dashboards that can help you answer key questions.
