You’re Invited to UnCharitable!
We’re excited to invite you to UnCharitable: Using Documentary and Dialogue to Reimagine How We Give on Wednesday, October 30, at Clark College’s Gaiser Hall. This free event features the Clark County premiere of UnCharitable, a thought-provoking documentary by social entrepreneur Dan Pallotta. The film challenges traditional perceptions of charity and urges us to rethink how we can better support nonprofits in their mission to drive meaningful change.
Following the screening, join a panel of local nonprofit leaders, including our CEO, Brittini Lasseigne, for a deep dive into how these ideas apply locally. This discussion will explore the barriers nonprofits face and how we can focus on maximizing community impact, not just minimizing overhead.
This is a unique opportunity for donors, volunteers, and community members to ask questions, gain insights, and shape the future of philanthropy here in southwest Washington.
Event Details:
• Date: Wednesday, October 30th
• Time: 4:30 - 7:30 PM • Location: Clark College, Gaiser Hall | 1933 Fort Vancouver Way, Vancouver, WA 98663
• Cost: FREE (Registration Required)

Week Without Violence: Shining a Light on Financial Trauma
YWCA’s Week Without Violence is a global movement dedicated to ending violence against women and girls. For more than 20 years, YWCAs around the world have united to elevate survivor voices and engage communities in action. This year, we’re focusing on a critical yet often overlooked aspect of gender-based violence: financial trauma.
The theme for 2024, " Financial Trauma: From Financial Abuse to Safety and Justice", highlights the impact financial abuse has on survivors. Financial trauma is a form of abuse that strips away control and independence, leaving deep scars and hindering the ability to move forward. It’s an issue that touches people across all socioeconomic backgrounds, with long-lasting consequences.
In partnership with World YWCA, this year's Week Without Violence will be taking place between October 21th-26th, and will feature powerful stories from local YWCA associations, showcasing real experiences of financial abuse and the resilience of survivors. Throughout the week, we’ll be sharing practical strategies for identifying financial abuse, along with resources to support recovery. By highlighting financial trauma, we aim to expand the conversation around economic harm and its connections to systemic inequities and unjust policies. Stay engaged during Week Without Violence by visiting YWCA USA’s event page for resources and insights. Together, we can help move survivors from financial trauma toward safety and justice.
