Seward Young Life
Back to School

It's that time of year again!   We have enjoyed a great summer but it definitely feels like fall around here.   We are freezing at night in the higher elevations and northern latitudes.  Right now we have a number of kids and their families out hunting for moose and caribou.  Here in Alaska, our fall sports start at the beginning of August and students start school about the 3rd week.  We are in full swing of our volleyball, football, and cross country seasons. (Go Seahawks!)  It's so much fun to support our kids as they compete as well as hang out with kids on the sidelines.  We are also back in the school doing open gym at lunch time.
The month of August and the beginning of September have been REALLY wet with only a handful of days where it wasn't raining.  On one of the few nice days, we had a back to school barbeque at our house to start the new school year off.   There was lots of food, music, a bonfire, and games. It was a great time with about 40 kids in attendance!
(Above: If you look closely in the picture above, you can see the town of Seward across the bay at the base of the mountains where the water ends.  I took this picture last spring from up on the mountain behind our house. Below: our Back to School BBQ; our Football and XC students Competing )

How you can get involved!

Prayer:  First and foremost, we know that prayer does more than anything in bringing the Kingdom of God to places that need it.  Please continue to pray that Jesus would bring freedom and life to our high school friends through a relationship with Him!  If you live in Seward, there is prayer every Monday night at Seward City Church at 7:07 (The same time Club and Campaigners is taking place.)  Feel free to show up or if you have questions, call Teresa at 907-769-1386.
Volunteering: There are many ways to give of your time.  Short term, long term, on the front lines, behind the scenes...we have a place for you!  Feel free to contact me with any questions and I can connect you with the right people.
Partnering with us Financially:  To make Young Life happen in small communities, it takes significant support from both inside and outside.  A sincere thank you to those of you who are so generously giving to make it possible here.  If you are interested in helping support us financially, it is easy to do - just go to https://www.younglife.org/Giving/Pages/default.aspx and our area is AK48.
