A Note from Hitinder Gurm
It’s been just over two years since the first cases of COVID-19 were reported in Michigan, changing the way we live and work. The pandemic has changed the way BMC2 conducts meetings, training, site audits, and site visits. While there is no perfect replacement for in-person networking, many of the changes implemented have enhanced the quality of the services that BMC2 offers its consortium members.
- Coordinator meetings now take place virtually and much more frequently, offering increased education opportunities.
- Holding physician and collaborative-wide meetings virtually has led to increased ease in attendance.
- Coordinators are now able to train at their own speed rather than enduring an 8 – 10-hour training day.
- BMC2 coordinating center staff members now conduct audits/site visits remotely, allowing for all parties to review the results of the audit/visit more extensively. This leads to more opportunities for consortium members and BMC2 coordinating center staff to collaborate on problem-solving.
Personally, I do miss the in-person meetings and do look forward to connecting in person with colleagues across the State. When it is safe to do so, there will be a move to a hybrid system of virtual and in-person meetings and audits, taking the best qualities from each. We look forward to continuing to improve our processes and making an even bigger impact on improving outcomes for patients. THANKS, as always, for the work you do each day.
