Where Passion Meets Opportunity
High School Internship Program Kicks Off!

Rutherford Works is facilitating 50 rising seniors’ internships with employers across various industries in Rutherford County. Students spend 16 hours per week with their employer and 4 hours on Fridays for work-based learning sessions.
On June 2, Heather Adams of Choice Publicity and Dr. Don Roy from MTSU’s Department of Marketing shared essential advice with students on professional branding and the importance of LinkedIn.

Teach Ready 2017

Last week, we hosted the 2nd annual Teach Ready Conference at the Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) in Smyrna, TN.  
It was the biggest Teach Ready event yet, check out the numbers:
  • Over 260 attendees
  • 24 breakout sessions
  • 8 healthcare and manufacturing industry tours

Haslam signs Reconnect Act


Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam made history on May 24 as he signed the Tennessee Reconnect Act, making Tennessee the first state in the nation to offer all citizens – both high school graduates and adults – the chance to earn a postsecondary degree or certificate free of tuition and fees and at no cost to taxpayers.
Building off the groundbreaking Tennessee Promise program, which provides high school graduates two years of community or technical college free of tuition and fees, the Tennessee Reconnect Act (HB 531/SB 1218) establishes a last-dollar scholarship for adults to attend a community college tuition-free.
