When does God grant our prayers? Prayer is a great way to get God’s will done on earth, not man’s will done in heaven. James said we have not because we ask not (James 4:2). When we ask we do not receive because our prayers are about our desires, not God’s (4:3).
After the camel’s knelt, so did the servant. He asked God for success and kindness in his quest to find a wife for Isaac. Then he set up a scenario: if a young woman offers to water the camels, I will know she is the one. Please do not try this at home. We are not in a posture of testing God.
Before he finished prayed, Rebekah came out with a jar, gave the servant water, and offered to water the camels. She drew enough water for all the camels. The servant watched and waited to see if she was the one.
“Before you call, I will answer,” God later told Isaiah (65:24). God answers our prayers which are according to his will even before we ask. Make no mistake. It is good to ask. In prayer, we align ourselves with God’s great purpose on earth. God moves us to prayer, but even before we respond, he is working. I read somewhere that James, the brother of Jesus, prayed on his knees so much that his nickname was "Camel Knees.”
