Psalm 119:14-16
I rejoice in following your statutes
    as one rejoices in great riches.
 I meditate on your precepts
    and consider your ways.
 I delight in your decrees;
    I will not neglect your word.

New International Version (NIV)
               My aunt sent me a Bible.  As a seventh grader, I did not fully appreciate the impact of the gift.  In fact, I remember being disappointed.  On another occasion she had sent me a rocket which we shot into the sky, and waited for a parachuting astronaut.  But this package looked like a book.  Surely not.  It was.  I saw her a few weeks ago.  Every day I am grateful she sent me that Bible.  It became for me a meeting place with God.
               In this longest Psalm and chapter of the Bible, the psalmist speaks about the scriptures in every verse.    He rejoices in God's statutes more than in great riches.  He meditates on the precepts and considers God's ways.  He delighted in God's decrees.  He refused to neglect God's word.
               Through the years I have accumulated a number of Bibles in various sizes, translations and languages.  After all these years, I can say, the Bible has always been for me a meeting place with God.  I neglect it at great risk.  In keeping it there is great reward!
Pray with me:
Father, thank you for speaking to us in your word.  Let us not neglect the opportunity to hear your word today and every day.  Speak, Lord, your servants are listening.  In Jesus' name.  Amen.
I want to invite you to join me in memorizing 52 passages this year from the 2017 set of Fighter Verses.  You can find the Fighter Verses App at the App Store on your phones or via this link  http://fighterverses.com/the-verses/fighter-verses/As we study the Bible this year, let's look at each text and learn what it says about God.
Joyfully,
