Excitement for New City Hall
It’s an exciting time as the transition continues into the new City Hall. The ribbon-cutting ceremony and grand opening will be May 21 at 10 a.m. It’s an opportunity for residents to get a first look at City Hall and learn more about City government and services. Visitors will also be able to enjoy several public art displays throughout the building. 
New School Planned for District 5
Council Member Meredith took questions and provided updates on several topics at his April Town Hall at New Hope Cumberland Presbyterian Church, located in an area that could see substantial growth over the next decade. Topics of interest included future commercial and residential development, infrastructure, traffic and schools. Council Member Meredith also revealed a new K-8 school in District 5 as part of Huntsville City Schools’ proposed 10-year capital plan.

Phase II Road Resurfacing 
The City Council recently approved funding for Phase II of the City's residential street repaving plan for the 2024 fiscal year. The following streets in District 5 are scheduled for resurfacing within the next 10 months:
  • Beadle Lane from Swancott Road to Wall Triana Highway
  • Mooresville Road from private drive to Humphrey Road
  • Pryor Road from Peoples Road to Old Highway 20
  • Sweet Hollow Way from Mountain Creek Drive to Sandy Hollow Drive
  • Windswept Drive (entire street)

District 5 Forum
Council Member Meredith will host a District 5 forum with Madison County Probate Judge Frank Barger on May 6 at 4 p.m. at the Old City Hall (308 Fountain Circle) in the 1st floor Council Chambers. The topics for discussion are polling locations for municipal elections and voting integrity. The probate judge is the top elections official in Madison County. Attend District 5 Town Hall
Council Member Meredith will hold a District 5 Town Hall on May 7 at 6 p.m. at Williams Middle School (155 Barren Fork Blvd.). Hear the latest D5 updates and bring ideas about how to make D5 an even better place to live.
Seniors' Issues Focus of Mini-Town Hall
Council Member Meredith will hold a mini-Town Hall with Willow Run Adventist Towers residents to discuss issues important to seniors in District 5. The event will be May 21 at 1 p.m. at Willow Run Adventist Towers, 1915 Rideout Drive.
