Summer is underway in Westfield, and Community is right in the middle of the momentum! We're connecting with residents at local events, advancing progress on Community Hospital Westfield, and expanding care close to home.

Coming soon, athletes and active adults will have a new option to recover and perform at their best with the opening of a new clinic at the Community Health Network Events Center at Grand Park.

Community's Northwest Region President Derek McMichael joins other health executives at the Westfield Chamber's State of Healthcare event

Westfield has been buzzing with activity this month — and Community Health Network has loved being right in the middle of it.

On June 4, the Westfield Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual State of Healthcare luncheon. Derek McMichael, president of Community’s Northwest Region and leader of the future Community Hospital Westfield, joined fellow health system executives to share updates on Community’s growth in Westfield and our commitment to supporting this rapidly expanding community.

The momentum continued on June 5 at Westfield Wellness Day, where physicians from our Westfield Medical Office Building connected residents with services ranging from women’s care and primary care to pediatrics, sports medicine, and integrative medicine. Many of these same teams are also out at the Westfield Farmer’s Market every Thursday, offering education, answering questions, and helping families find the care they need.

And the summer fun isn’t slowing down. You’ll spot Community caregivers at Droplight Grand Park Sports Campus for Westfield Rocks the 4th. If you’re joining the celebration, swing by our tents, cool off for a minute, and say hello. We love serving our Westfield neighbors — and we can’t wait to see you out in the community.

Athletes, active individuals and weekend warriors will soon have a new resource for recovery and performance in Westfield. Community Orthopedics and Sports Medicine is opening a new clinic this summer at the Community Health Network Events Center at Grand Park. 

Located on the second floor of the Events Center, the clinic is designed to help individuals recover from injuries, improve performance and return to activity faster. Certified athletic trainers will provide a variety of recovery-focused services, including injury evaluations, athletic and kinesiology taping, dry needling, cupping, compression therapy, guided stretching, red light therapy, percussion therapy and other advanced recovery techniques. 

The new clinic offers a convenient option for athletes and active adults seeking affordable, professional recovery services close to where they train and compete. 

Need immediate orthopedic care? Community also offers a walk-in orthopedic and sports medicine clinic at the Community Westfield Medical Office Building (19800 East Street, Suite 120, Westfield), providing care for sprains, strains, fractures, joint injuries and other recent sports-related injuries.

Glass is now being installed at the new Community Hospital Westfield

Exciting progress is being made on the future Community Hospital Westfield as crews have now started installing the glass façade on the patient tower. By the end of July, the hospital exterior should be largely completed. We can’t wait to showcase the building’s new look! Inside the hospital, work is steadily progressing as well. Framing and in-wall rough work are underway, several areas have already passed inspection, drywall is going up, and primer is being painted in some areas.

Elsewhere on the site, the southwest parking lot asphalt is finished, sidewalks are poured, and bases for new bollard lighting are in place. The south entrance is scheduled to reopen on July 13 and patient parking will shift to the recently completed southwest parking lot. As part of this temporary change, patients will enter the Medical Office Building through a new entrance on the southwest side of the building. Once the change occurs, we’ll have plenty of signage to help patients navigate the new route.

Community Health Network has a number of ways to get involved in supporting the wellbeing of your community. One specific need for the Westfield community is local volunteers for Community Hospice. Hospice volunteers are a vital part of our team and bring a wealth of talent and compassion to our office and into the homes of our patients.

The program has a role for everyone, including both patient-facing and behind-the-scenes support, offering flexible opportunities that fit a variety of schedules. Volunteers can help with meaningful activities such as reading to patients, relieving the caregiver, or comforting and listening, while non-patient volunteers can contribute through computer input, packet assembly, or other supportive tasks. Whether you love connecting with people or prefer helping from home, your time can make a real difference.
