Are you looking to jump-start your next dissertation chapter or move past a roadblock in your writing? Don’t miss UChicagoGRAD’s December Dissertation Write-In, an intensive four-day group writing retreat designed to help you build community and make meaningful progress on your work.
Each day, attendees will meet for breakfast and supportive check-in groups at 9:00 A.M. in UChicagoGRAD HQ. Shortly thereafter, attendees will be free to write, uninterrupted, for a three-hour block. At 12:30 P.M., lunch will be provided alongside an opportunity to reflect on progress and goals.
This Write-In will be held from December 8th-11th. Space is limited, so participants should commit to attending three of the four days.

This free, non-credit course has been adapted from two popular entrepreneurship courses at Chicago Booth. It will empower scientists to understand the underlying economics of a new business. Participants will also gain insight into how investors make decisions. The course is recommended for those interested in entrepreneurship and technology commercialization. Graduate Fellowships for STEM Development

GFSD’s mission is to cultivate the next generation of STEM leaders through merit-based fellowships, mentorship, and professional research experiences. Fellows receive $20,000 in funding to go toward their graduate stipend. Fellowships are renewable annually in discussion with partner agencies and fellowships are typically offered to 3-6 years.

NIH Bioethics Fellowship
Postdoctoral Deadline: January 15
The NIH Department of Bioethics welcomes applications for fully funded post-baccalaureate and post-doctoral research fellowships. Fellows are central to the activities and intellectual life of our interdisciplinary department, including weekly bioethics seminars, case conferences, ethics consultations, IRB deliberations, and other educational opportunities at NIH. They study ethical issues related to biomedical research, clinical practice, genetics, biotechnology, public health, health policy, population health and disparities, global health and other important issues in bioethics. For a typical fellow, this research yields multiple first-authored publications in academic journals. We do not require or expect bioethics experience and encourage anyone with a strong interest to apply.

Tucked in the third-floor stacks for quiet concentration, the writing room for doctoral students offers updated lighting, tables, and chairs.
Covered drinks and snacks are allowed, but meals should be eaten elsewhere. Access can be gained daily by requesting a key from the circulation desk (just make sure to return it before the library closes).
