How can we engage deeply in a virtual year?!
By Marie Luna, director of congregational life

We have had to figure out how to be part of a faith community in ways that many of us could not have anticipated. I talk to my UU colleagues across the country and we are all saying the same thing—how do we help people stay engaged when we can’t meet in person? This hasn’t been easy, and it will unfortunately be lasting longer than we had hoped. Here are some suggestions to help stay connected, and know we are here for you to help!
•  Call or email someone you used to see at service or part of a group who you haven’t connected to in a while. Email marie@fvuuf.org if you need contact information. Or join the Pen Pal Program to get to know someone!
•  Check out the current list of small groups meeting via zoom.
•  Learn about or grow deeper in your Unitarian Universalist faith with our adult faith development opportunities.
•  Mark your calendar for the 2nd Wednesday of the month for a one of a kind Wellspring Program, that is being led by ministers and other faith leaders from across the country (and even Asia!).
•  Email or call me to talk about how you can get connected or if you need support. I am here for you!

Checking in with our Compas

Less than 6 months ago, many of our lives changed abruptly in so many ways due to the pandemic. You may recall during those days of upheaval in March that joyful news was shared. Through the support of the Immigration Justice Team, a young mother and her son seeking asylum had arrived safely to the Fox Valley. Shortly after, a 14-year-old girl, alone in the US after her mother was deported, also arrived. They are all being supported by our team.  Read more and hear from our compas

Notable

A Note from Rev. Leah

I was honored to have the text and audio recording of an essay I wrote, based on some research for Fellowship services (most recently when I preached on August 9th, which you can hear here) included in Quest for Meaning, a project of Church of the Larger Fellowship, a Unitarian Universalist congregation without walls.
The Quest for Meaning site engages people of all ages and stages in Unitarian Universalism, and its many ministries nurture depth and meaning in places as diverse as family dinner tables, prison cells, and military mess halls. Their theme this month was imagination.
Check out my contribution and a variety of materials HERE.
Most importantly, thanks for being a place that supports me in contributing to conversations in the larger UU community. The Fellowship encourages my imagination and for that I am grateful!
Love, Leah
