On Monday, May 5th, 2025, the Department of Campus Safety received a report of an attempted robbery that occurred at approximately 8:17 p.m., at Carlyle Court Residence Hall, in Manhattan.

The victim, A non-NYU community member, reported while walking a dog near Carlyle Court Residence Hall, an unidentified individual threw an unknown liquid at them. The victim entered the vestibule of Carlyle Court Residence Hall, where the individual followed, grabbed the victim from behind, and forced them to the ground in an attempt to steal their phone. The victim’s dog bit the suspect, prompting the suspect to flee the scene.
The Non-NYU community member reported nothing was taken, and no physical injuries. The NYPD was contacted and a report was taken.

Description of Suspect(s): The suspect is masculine-presenting approximately 5'9 - 5'10 with dark complexion wearing white sneakers with no laces. No other details are available at this time.
