YWCA Clark County staff were recently featured in a KATU urging Washington lawmakers to invest in victim services, highlighting the impact of steep federal cuts on local survivors. In the segment, we emphasize how this funding sustains life‑saving services like our emergency shelter, 24/7 hospital response, support groups, and civil legal aid.

YWCA Clark County proudly recognizes Dr. Karin Edwards, President of Clark College, as a 2026 Val Joshua Racial Justice Award recipient. A transformative, equity-centered leader, Dr. Edwards has helped embed racial justice into Clark College’s foundation—closing equity gaps, improving retention and completion for students of color, and expanding access to basic needs through the college’s Basic Needs Hub. Beyond campus, she is widely regarded as a bridge-builder who forges partnerships across education, workforce, and housing sectors to broaden opportunity and advance measurable progress toward racial equity. Join us in celebrating Dr. Edwards at YWCA’s Shine Gala on March 21.

|
YWCA Clark County also honors Dr. Megan Dudley, founder of the Ridgefield Multicultural Initiative, as a 2026 Val Joshua Racial Justice Award recipient. Dr. Dudley is recognized for creating an inclusive festival, film series, and community dialogues that amplify historically excluded voices and foster meaningful connection. Through efforts like the Ridgefield Multicultural Initiative, Meaningful Movies Ridgefield, and the Ridgefield Multicultural Festival, she brings students, educators, leaders, and neighbors together to confront racism with honesty, compassion, and action. Her humility, persistence, and empathy embody Val Joshua’s legacy of justice rooted in love and collective responsibility.
