As the 2024-25 academic year wraps up, we gathered on April 21st for the Spring 2025 Faculty and Staff College-Wide meeting to recognize and celebrate our exceptional faculty and staff's outstanding contributions, dedication, and achievements. The inaugural CAPPA Faculty & Staff Awards program, led by Associate Dean Bezboruah, was created to foster a culture of appreciation and excellence within our community. During this gathering, we proudly acknowledged our first cohort of award recipients.

| New Two-Year Study Investigates the Efficacy of Drug and Mental Health Specialty Courts |
A new research initiative, “Therapeutic Outcomes and Judicial Efficiency: A Comprehensive Study of a Drug and Mental Health Specialty Court,” is underway. It is led by Dr. Alejandro Rodriguez in partnership with the North Texas Behavioral Health Authority (NTBHA), the state-designated Local Behavioral Health Authority serving Dallas, Ellis, Hunt, Kaufman, Navarro, and Rockwall counties.

| The 39th Annual AAAI Conference on Artificial Intelligence |
Dr. Qisheng Pan presented at the inaugural Workshop on AI for Planning during the 39th Annual AAAI Conference, discussing "Exploring Commuting Inequalities through Inferential Machine Learning" and its relevance to urban planning challenges.

| Embracing AI: Assessing Creativity & Critical Thinking in the Design Studio |
Dr. Barbara Marini presented a CEU session at the Interior Design Educators Council 2025 conference titled "Embracing AI: Assessing Creativity & Critical Thinking in the Design Studio."
The session centered on comparing the use of AI and its non-use for collages and research. A three-part assessment compared their creativity and critical thinking levels. The image showcased is a concept collage addressing the need for affordable housing in Hawaii due to natural disasters.

| Summer Faculty Fellowship |
The Division of Faculty Success is accepting applications for summer faculty fellows to document faculty credentials. This 5-week project offers a $4,000 stipend for eligible tenure-line and APT faculty.

| Impact Metrics for Promotion & Tenure Workshop |
Join UTA Libraries on Wednesday, April 30, at noon for a workshop on research impact metrics relevant to tenure and promotion. Librarian Janet Burka will lead the session at the Central Library's Day Family Research Lab. The session will cover citation counts, h-index, journal impact factor, and identifying sources to compile such metrics.

Join the upcoming ACUE Course, "Designing Learner-Centered and Equitable Courses," from June 9 to July 27. This fully online, asynchronous course includes a facilitator and peer cohort. You'll spend 2-3 hours per week on modules, implement new practices, engage in virtual discussions, and complete reflection assignments to enhance your teaching.
Register here. There is no need to be teaching a summer course to join.

Excellence in Teaching Documentary Brainstorming Session |
Join UTA in celebrating its 130th birthday by sharing your story in a documentary about teaching excellence. They are hosting a brainstorming session on Thursday, May 8, from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in Trinity Hall 104.

Faculty Sustainability Bootcamp |
The Lemelson Foundation is providing support to conduct a boot camp for faculty to integrate sustainability into their courses. It is a short two-day boot camp (9 am – 1 pm, both days), and they provide breakfast and lunch each day on May 14th and 15th in Trinity Hall 105.
